April 22, 2006 -- New Members/Training

Spring 2006 Midwest Mountain Bike Patrol (MMBP) training class
Saturday, April 22nd, 10A-2P
Shawnee Mission Park, picnic shelter #7 (near the dam)
Bring: bike, snacks, water, cool weather gear (chilly in shade), patrol pack or camelback type pack, notebook, pen/pencil/crayon/hammer, chisel, stone tablet.

This will be the "Mountain Bike" portion of the training. We'll also hold an in-house First Aid/CPR training for new or current Patrollers who need it at a later date.

We know you love to ride - do you also enjoy meeting new people and helping people you meet on the trails? Consider becoming a part of the Midwest Mountain Bike Patrol.

As a part of the MMBP you'll be an ambassador on the trails, providing assistance to hikers, equestrians, and especially mountain bikers. You'll give information, provide directions, help with minor repairs, and provide first aid. You'll learn expert mechanical quick-fixes for repairing breakdowns out on the trail - because walking back to the trailhead is no fun. You'll also get First Aid and CPR training through the American Red Cross, to be able to patch somebody up should they need your help on the trail.

We'd love to have you! Especially if you're new to mountain biking, new to Earthriders or just new to the area, becoming a part of the MMBP is a great way to get involved and give something back to the fantastic singletrack scene we've got going here. The best part is that you get to help out and give back while doing exactly what you love to do most - ride!

For more information, or if you'd like to register for the class, drop me a line. Class size will be limited - RSVP soon to reserve your spot.

Happy trails,
